The continuation of an individual's education beyond the basic preparation for his or her profession is widely recognized as a valuable asset and is required in most professions to maintain licensure and keep abreast of issues and changes in their fields. To that end many states and court reporter associations have continuing education requirements for members to retain licensure or certification as a court reporter.
Since the reporting of testimony encompasses many fields of endeavor, both the opportunity and need for education are vast. In order to maintain the level of expertise to be considered certified by NVRA, the absorption of new information throughout a career is necessary.
A continuing education program is a required standard for NVRA-certified reporters worldwide.
